Thanks for the reply, i am a bit skeptical about purchasing car stuff on ebay, i bought some clear corners recently for my 190e, and the fitment was horrible!.... So i wouldnt actually be using the grill outside piece, just the six slot center piece? How do i remove this? I know its two bolts and top and bottom.. but what about the clips?

I have that ebay grille insert and the fitment isn't perfect. I had to cut down the tab on top as well as cut a notch for the hood pull. And on the bottom I had to use a nut/bolt instead of the screw which is used on the stock grille. You also want to re-use the original clips.

To get the clips out I use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to knock them out. Make sure to put a sheet on your engine though or the clips will go flying where you can't get them.

And do not buy the one with the whole assembly. A friend of mine bought one for his 300E and the car looks funny now because the fitment is so bad.

I bought one with the whole assembly since the cost was about the same.
For the hood pull, i just sanded down the lever instead of messing with the grille. It's easier to do and since you can't see the lever when the hood is closed, it looks better than a notch in the grille.
As for the bottom screw, mine came cracked so i wasn't able to use it. Instead i ended up just placing a clip at the bottom middle of the grille. It keeps it in place and pushes it forward to make it look right.

So even if i get the insert it would not fit correctly? I think i would just be better off plastidipping the original one black, if that is the case. Why do none of the aftermarket parts fit flush? smh

I bought a replacement grille like this, not sure if it's the same brand. The brand I bought was actually called "Replacement", honest, that was the name. There was no cutout for the release pull, and it didn't conform well to the shape of the hood. I couldn't even use the aluminum inserts on my old grille, because the design was completely different. I'd normally give the seller every opportunity to fix the problem, but they disappeared before I could return it and there was no way to contact the manufacturer directly. After I made a bunch of mods, I decided it was unredeemable and tossed it. Fixed up my old grille. Waste of $70.

If you need this part, you'd probably be better off buying a used part. Of course, all of these problems may be corrected now, and it may not even be the same manufacturer.
