A local Benz dealer has a 45,000 mile CPO Iridium Silver/Grey 2007 S600 on sale for $49K. Is it a good deal? And how's the reliabilty/fuel economy on the early (mid 06 build date) S600's, or just W221 S600's in general?

No need to explain. I will never understand anyway. If I were concerned with fuel economy I would not own a Mercedes. And I assure you before I purchase an S600 I will never ask a single question about its fuel economy. To me, someone concerned with fuel economy in a Mercedes = a poser.

Well, sir, thanks for your input. Your OPINION of me is completely false, I am by no means a "poser". Considering the purchase of a 510 horsepower twin-turbocharged. flagship Benz makes me the exact opposite of what you are pinning me as.

Not sure about the price in your part of the world, but seems incredibly low. Fuel consumption is about the same as your Landrover if you have a heavy foot. On highway driving at reasonable speeds, consumption is better, but to be honest I didn't buy my S600 for the fuel economy. It's a FANTASTIC car to drive, nothing else comes close in terms of power for the luxury and comfort. In terms of maintenance, you need deep pockets. It's NOT cheap to maintain, though it's given less trouble than my other S600 (W220). Unless my financial circumstances change dramatically, I will not change from an S600, and plan on getting the W222 model too. It's that good !
