There is no "door open" warning indicator if one of the passenger doors is open when the car is in drive or reverse. Have any of you experienced this or have an answer how to correct this ?
It's pretty hard to have a door open when the S550 is in drive or reverse. The doors are closed automatically and sealed when the door comes in contact with the jam. I have not checked to see if there is a warning or not.

I checked this out last evening and if the door is open there is a warning in the center console in orange...Door Open Car Not In Park.

As I wrote, the door warning indicator is for the DRIVER door only. However, if you have any of the 3 passenger doors open when you are in park (or when you start the car), and then shift into drive, there is no warning indocator that comes up saying "door open ". I checked with the dealer and was told it will only indicate a warning once you are driving 9 mph if someone opens a door. However, if you have a child in the back seat and the door is open while in park or upon starting the car, you will not get a warning indicator when shifting into drive. This is a hazardous issue with children.

Duding the day it may not be that easy to tell if a cabin light is on. All I can tell you is that on every other car I have had, there is always a "door open" or "door ajar" warning indicator if a Passenger door is open or not fully closed when you shift from park to drive. It's very surprising that MB wouldn't have such a warning indicator in the s550
