I'm at 166450 km (103000mi), I must say to date this has been a very reliable car.
Gas mileage is on par with my old W140 Diesel which had 481000kms, when i traded it in for the 2007 S550.
Repairs:
-steering rack(warranty)
-rear cam seals(x2)
-ball joints, tie rods(warranty)
-blower fan and relay(warranty)
-Gas canister(warranty)
-pads and rotors all around
-second set of tires (conti DWS)
-Second set of snows

Oil change EVERY 8k km, tranny service every 65K km....finger crossed hope to get 300k km......

Sounds like my power steering pump is going...very faint whinning....anyone had issues?

I don't think that list is too bad at all. Best of luck I think these will do 300K from all I have been hearing. My service advisor states the computer modules are the biggest worry as mechanically they are pretty solid.

2010 S550 4MATIC here...130,000 miles.

Barring routine maintenance and wear items (i.e. oil changes, tires, brakes, etc.) my issue(s) have been:

° Motor Mounts, Heated Steering Wheel, Heated Driver Seat (50k)
° Left & Right Lower Control Arms/Ball Joints (70k)
° Front Drive Propeller Shaft (125k)

Now getting an intermittent, momentary shudder at about 60-MPH under light acceleration, seems more prevalent traveling a moderate incline. Going into shop tomorrow to investigate.

Just clipped 100,000 and going strong.

-Heated seat replaced twice and back out again and I just live with it
-Heater went out but came back on
-Driver soft close door goes in-out and I just live with it
-Armrest leather has bubbled and wrinkled but I just live with it
-Hate the stupid 130 mph limiter

Overall its been the greatest 100k miles of pure joy

I'm at 90K now and no issues. Like a new car. New tires, and battery, along w/ a serp belt as a precaution as i didn't see it changed on any of my service records. I do the oil every 8-9K and the oil analysis comes back great. Going to do a trans service soon at MB. I expect 200K easily. We'll see! I too have the armrest wrinkle and console also. Not too bad but interior is like new otherwise. Been a great ride so far!

It's too bad MB hasn't made a high-mileage award for these newer cars, as I don't think the old ones will fit.

123,000 miles. No big issues. Tires, Brakes, Control arm bushings. Milage is usually 23 to 24 mpg. No problems with electronics or any other issues. Great Car.

I just had a guy w/ a 2007 come by my house to buy some rims I am selling. He has 170K and only real issue he had was a replaced trans. He felt it was probably just the valve body but that was their fix. His was a DD with nothing but normal maintenance. One good thing it seems is not a lot of module or computer issues being mentioned. As that can be pricey and frustrating.

That's way way too expensive for a transmission. Find a good independent shop or and have them install one.

Car-part.org shows a number of pretty good ones in the $1500-2000 range. By pretty good I mean one had 50k miles and was already removed from the car (ready to ship) and they wanted slightly under $2k for it.

These prices are both for RWD and 4Matic.. they're about the same price.

These are easy to ship.. I've done it before. They strap it to a pallet and ship it to a freight place near your house, and you go pick up. Once the straps are cut, two people can manage lifting the transmission into a pickup truck/SUV/uhaul.

If the problem with yours is mechanical (gears, bands, etc) which it sounds like it is, you can probably swap over all your electronics (conductor plate, etc) and the car won't have to be reprogrammed at all. Although I think the tech will need to set some adaptation values (reset a few things) so it operates as well as it can, but technically I don't think anything needs to be done for the car to start and run

(please correct me if I'm wrong on the above... )

Mounts
front end bushings
Brakes (Normal)
Tires (Normal)
Trans/Oil Service as scheduled
fun car to drive only complaint is the interior seems creaky.... seats, arm rest, something.... not sure. not annoying enough to get me to investigate.

My car too has an annoying creak on the console door and sometimes a rattle on the drivers seat but other than that she is very tight and is impressive for the mileage now at 105K! Coming from nightmare issues with BMW mercedes has won me over with the quality on this car so far.

Interior noises, creaks, and stuff i've noticed:

2008-2009
Front Seat storage compartments make noise when driving rough roads
Front seat headrests vibrate on rough road and make a loud noise - there is a thread for this somewhere, the fix is to use a shimmy to stop the vibration).
Any creaks or rattles coming from under the car is usually a drive train, flex disc or mount issue.

Heat is easy if it's a blower motor problem. I paid $125 for a new Behr motor assembly and had it swapped in 20 mins. Requires contorting yourself because it's upside down in the passenger footwell, but it's only 6 screws (one holding regulator to blower, 5 holding blower to car). Turn your manual fan switch up all the way (to setting 7) on both sides. Do you hear a really strong fan running? If it's weak or off, your blower motor has failed.

Sunroof requires reset after losing power. Click the switch to the 'closed position' lightly (enough to get the roof to shut). Once it's closed, push the switch further (as hard as it goes into the closed position) and hold for 10 seconds. This will tell the roof that it is in the closed position.

Note that if you have a panoramic roof the sunroof in the front does NOT close automatically.. you always have to hold the switch. Only regular (non-pano) cars have the auto closing sunroof.

Button may be stuck or failed.. requires DAS to troubleshoot it but probably quite easy.

Your car is in good shape for 140,000 miles if that is all that is wrong with it!

The blower motor is quite common. Mine went also. It is either the resistor on the motor or the motor but both should be changed at the same time and many aftermarkets come that way. I have a couple of creaks also and am going to nail them down as that is my only real aging complaint that takes away from my car being in such great condition.

I think i'll take the lead here..

I have two S550's
2008 has 122k
2010 has 35k.

My 2008 has needed the following:

motor mounts
transmission mounts
differential guibo (flex disc), i think theres 2.
control arms
sway bar links
tranny service every 40k!! don't forget it or else youre asking for tranny issues

i usually let the stealership do their hour of diagnostic and i buy the parts n swap at my indy shop. save a ton of money.

I am hoping to get a W222 S500 Hybrid soon. 78 MPG!
You bought your 2008 Mercedes twice.:)
