Well as the title says, what's your mileage and what issues have you had.? Most of the S550's I have seen when I was looking were all under 90K. So who has big mileage and is running strong. I have 69K but am intending to keep her for some years. That will put me way over 100K wondering what that will bring. I am very anal about maintenance and usually have very few engine issues w/ my cars. My vin is not in the idler gear issue so hoping for a great experience.:)

2009 S550 4Matic 040; 60K miles on this puppy. The only problems I've had so far are;

1. Washer fluid leaks from behind the headlamp area when outside ambient temperature is 32 degrees or below. I had this back to the dealer 1 time already, problem still surfaced this past winter. I'm going in for B Service next week...this is on my list forthem again.

2. Driver seat storage compartment door continually comes off the hindge.

3. Squeak when breaking at low speeds under 10mph from right front tire area. Happens after the brakes/rotors have heated up. Dealer still hasnt corrected this one either.

4. Rear parking sensor display falls out of the header panel. Corrected by dealer.

Other than this I have to say no other issues. I would love to hear your feedback on what item 3 could be related too...dealer tells me the rotor and brake pads appear to be fine.

98k right now on my 2008 S550. I have replaced intake manifold for $1850.00 and other than that mostly minor (but expensive) issues. Biggest annoyance right now is how squeaky and creaky the car is, every bump or dip in the road and the car creaks and groans like an old man. I have a slight shudder under acceleration that I pretend isn't there so I don't find out I need a new transmission.

1850 for an intake?? Why? Gaskets I understand but the intake?? Wow. It is a big heavy car and the BMW 7 and the S usually require bushings and suspension work depending on use. The shudder I have found is usually the torque converter so that is much more reasonable than a trans. Service advisor told me many people forget or don't do the 39,000 mile trans service which leads to issues w/ the trans later on. If it wasn't done fluid and filter may help. Correct fluid is very important on our model. Good luck!

Be patience I'm on my way ,I bought mine 1 year ago with 43K miles and use it as a limo service ,so I drove almost 50K in 1 year.
Wait a few more month and I'm far ahead of 100K
So far nothing special,Motor mounts, bladder from the seat and memory on the passenger seat all these issues are paid by 3rd party warranty ,unfortunately another 8K miles and the warranty runs out.
Transmission service shouldn't only be done at 39K but every 45K

I think i'll take the lead here..

I have two S550's
2008 has 122k
2010 has 35k.

My 2008 has needed the following:

motor mounts
transmission mounts
differential guibo (flex disc), i think theres 2.
control arms
sway bar links
tranny service every 40k!! don't forget it or else youre asking for tranny issues

i usually let the stealership do their hour of diagnostic and i buy the parts n swap at my indy shop. save a ton of money.

I am hoping to get a W222 S500 Hybrid soon. 78 MPG!

That's pretty good! I saw on my service records the motor mounts were done along with control arms. My trans service was done late at 65K! I am at 76K now so may do it again for a good flush then every 40K as I have heard. I would say for 122k that is very good for service issues. Didn't hear many good reviews on the w221 hybrid and they are cheaper right now. 78 mpg???!!! That is fantastic for a large car! How much??

I have 2008 S550 4Matic 123K Miles. Also used as a limo and in NYC (worst streets in the country).

I have had a transmission pump and torque converter replaced, a prop shaft, speed sensor (3 times I believe), control arm, tie rod end, all engine and tranny mounts done, a front caliper, rotors all around, along with all regular scheduled maintenance (brakes and oil changes I do myself).

Great cars!!! But a lot of upkeep and lots of money to be spent on parts and labor. Still runs okay but I am now having an issue with what I believe to be a bearing inside of the transfer case. Sounds like it is coming from right inside of where the spline comes out that goes into the prop shaft. I am looking into it now but I think all of the bearings in the transfer case and front differential need to be replaced. Any insight on this greatly appreciated!

Probably time for a new one but gonna have to wait... as we all know these babies have huge price tags. Clients love it though. Much more of a "Limo" than any thing American.

From all I have read the 4 matic can be troublesome. My biggest concern is the trans. My car had the trans service late but at least it was done. I will probably do it again soon for good measure and a good flush. I don't think anyone is an expert on repairing this trans so I hope to avoid any issues.

OK 103000 miles now on my 2008 S550. Just had it in for new motor mounts, transmission mounts, sway bars and some kind of steering linkage. Had them do a transmission service while they had it.

I have had a slight vibration under acceleration for some time now, it is completely gone. The car also squeaked and creaked badly over every kind of bump; this is also gone. Drives like a new car :)

Wow this is the highest I have heard. I have heard of several over 150K but not over 200K. I just did an oil analysis on my 7k oil at 79k on motor and they said it was like a new motor with no issues. Great #'s. I am encouraged this is a good car, concurring with all the maintenance records i had at purchase. I am looking to go far w/ it as it is a DD and has been pretty flawless. The comfort and high speed road manners are unmatched as i drive over 150 miles a day.

I'm at 166450 km (103000mi), I must say to date this has been a very reliable car.
Gas mileage is on par with my old W140 Diesel which had 481000kms, when i traded it in for the 2007 S550.
Repairs:
-steering rack(warranty)
-rear cam seals(x2)
-ball joints, tie rods(warranty)
-blower fan and relay(warranty)
-Gas canister(warranty)
-pads and rotors all around
-second set of tires (conti DWS)
-Second set of snows

Oil change EVERY 8k km, tranny service every 65K km....finger crossed hope to get 300k km......

Sounds like my power steering pump is going...very faint whinning....anyone had issues?

2010 S550 4MATIC here...130,000 miles.

Barring routine maintenance and wear items (i.e. oil changes, tires, brakes, etc.) my issue(s) have been:

° Motor Mounts, Heated Steering Wheel, Heated Driver Seat (50k)
° Left & Right Lower Control Arms/Ball Joints (70k)
° Front Drive Propeller Shaft (125k)

Now getting an intermittent, momentary shudder at about 60-MPH under light acceleration, seems more prevalent traveling a moderate incline. Going into shop tomorrow to investigate.

Just clipped 100,000 and going strong.

-Heated seat replaced twice and back out again and I just live with it
-Heater went out but came back on
-Driver soft close door goes in-out and I just live with it
-Armrest leather has bubbled and wrinkled but I just live with it
-Hate the stupid 130 mph limiter

Overall its been the greatest 100k miles of pure joy

I'm at 90K now and no issues. Like a new car. New tires, and battery, along w/ a serp belt as a precaution as i didn't see it changed on any of my service records. I do the oil every 8-9K and the oil analysis comes back great. Going to do a trans service soon at MB. I expect 200K easily. We'll see! I too have the armrest wrinkle and console also. Not too bad but interior is like new otherwise. Been a great ride so far!
