Is there a magical place where I can get obscure parts for my s500 without getting soaked by the local dealer? Like a MB only salvage yard that people have done business with and had good experience. Im in dire need of a contact for headlight assy's.

Have you checked www.car-part.com? They have inventory listings for many wreckers across North America. Do a search for Mercedes 500, and you will find a few.
