Can anyone please provide me with information on how to replace the spark plugs on a S430?

In the past I’ve managed to change plugs on older Mercedes with no problems …. Just follow the black wire which leads to the spark plug connector. Give it a little tug and voila you can see the head of the plug. Yesterday, after clearing the engine of all that plastic, I was confronted with eight (what I think to be) coils bolted to the two cam covers on either side engine. A cluster of low voltage wires are clipped to the top of each coil, with two high voltage wires coming from each at the bottom leading to the side of the engine. I tried pulling on the ends, but didn’t give it my best because it was so foreign to my eyes. At that point I decided to pack it up and ask for some advice.

Any information would be most appreciated.

If you are speaking of the W220...it is the exact same way. I have a 2000 S430 the only bad thing is that you have 16 plugs vice 8, but they are the same concept. Just pull on the coil toward the bottom near the plug and "pop" it comes right out. I watched the mechanic when he did the tune up to my car. And they have 4 prong platinumn tipped plugs at Advanced Auto, 4 plugs to the box for only 6.97. Better jump all over it.
