Can anyone tell me if the non-leveling steering pump has a filter or not? I will be installing a new pump soon, and I can't find any source that speaks of a filter, thanks. '97 model.

If your pump has the black plastic reservoir, there is no filter. If you have the round metal reservoir, there's a filter in the bottom of it.

No problem. BTW if you search this forum for "steering pump" you will find a very nice Photo-DIY from user G-AMG that explains removal and installation procedure step-by step. I just did my pump using that procedure and it works very well.

Bob,

Was it a pretty simple job? I am seriously thinking about doing this myself, can save about $500.00. Any special tools, do I need to raise my car, or leave it level? Also, what's the best way to remove the steering fluid? My wife said she would help me, but that remains to be seen. Is there a specific torque on the belt pulley on the pump? Any information would be helpful.

Read G-AMG's DIY. It gives you all the info you're asking for. My personal experience with the swap out was that everything was very straightforward and if you can turn a wrench and have an average selection hand tools, you can do the job.

I did it by myself in a couple of hours. The hardest part was accessing the two bolts on the back because they are a MAJOR pain to get at. You'll need a long extension, a u-joint, and a bit of patience.:surrender:
