All,

I am trying to find the correct location for the outside temp. sensor which is located on the bumber. Mine was damaged and removed because the bumper had been damaged. I am getting another bumper and temp sensor, and I need to know where it is suppose to be situated. A picture of the location would be very helpful.

Thanks!

not sure of your year - please advise

on my 96 s500 I believe the abient temp sensor is in the cowl intake near the windshield.

I could be wrong - but I thought it was there rather than in/around the bumper.

hope this helps

I did some checking - I believe your ambient temp sensor is not near the bumper; it is near the cowel intake near the windshield; near the cabin air filter

hope this helps

On mine (admittedly much older) the sensor is in the towing eye cover on the drivers side

Pretty sure there are two different sensors. You're talking about the climate control sensor. The instrument panel display sensor is clipped into the pop-out panel on the driver's side of the bumper.

The outside temperature sensor is mounted on the driver's side tow-hook cover. There is a small metal clip the sensor mounts on once inside the cover. The sensor itself looks like a small probe attached to a long wire. There is NO temperature sensor in the bumper itself, it is in the tow-hook cover.

Inside temperature sensors are in two places: the very front of the dashboard near the windshield between the defroster vents on 1997/8/9 cars, and a secondary one in the small box behind the rear view mirror, and in pre-1997 cars, that one is the primary temperature sensor.

It doesn't exactly "fit", I fixated mine with a glue gun from the back after the wiring job and everything that is, its been sitting there for nearly over 2 years now maybe even 3 years, no problems yet.

How ever you wish, it was only a suggestion:) I didn't damage anything either, its nearly one quarter of the price compared to the original, the only thing I did was to strip the wire and connected to the W220 temp sensor, I didn't drill a hole or anything.

Here is a picture of mine. Sorry, this is an older picture, I wasn't trying to take a picture of the sensor.
