For years the Mercedes dealers in Ontario used Superior Rustproofing on all the new cars sold. This was the heavy spray on coating which also acted as soundproofing in the wheelwells.
The downside was that after a few years it became brittle and would crack and start to allow water to seep in between the coating and the metal causing hidden pockets of rust to form.
I think what they use now is the drill & spray oil from Krown. http://www.krown.com/#process/
