It looks like I am going to have to use the 300SEL next winter. I was wondering how those of you in the colder states deal with the salt and the rust that goes with it. I realize a regular run through the car wash will make a world of difference, but is there anything else? It seems like I saw something on 3M making a covering/coating for the car to stop rust. Anyone know anything about this?

If you are going to drive the car every winter from now on, make sure you take it to a rustproofing centre where they "coat" the cars body cavity in special oil to prevent rusting. This is one of the best methods as these cars do rust despite the owners manual saying its been treated at the factory...dont listen to it!

Frequent washings (once a wk) in the winter also prevents rust but the biggest is the rustproofing.
