The engine started idling a tad bit higher. Then the next day I started it up and it began to run away immediately.
There is a choke valve that closes with intake suction automatically and is reset by pushing on the throttle, so it choked down the engine causing alot of smoke during the runaway but it probably saved the engine.
The engine dies when I shut the fuel off so I don't think its caused by an oil leak. When I manually reach over and turn the fuel shutoff lever almost off it begins to idle like normal.
I've already ordered some second hand "clean and pop tested" injectors but I think it may be the injection pump sending too much fuel.
Do you guys have any ideas?

It was the diaphragm in the vacuum governor. It tore open. I bought a used pump replacement but I'm considering getting a new diaphram for the old one and cleaning it up and testing it, maybe rebuilding it.
