Hi,
just got back to W126 (glad to be back!), and it's got an awful wooden wheel.
Judging by the RS lamp, it came with airbag steering wheel from the factory.

Is it possible to install a SRS (newer W126) steering wheel? Is it the same?

And any idea whether a W124 or other steering wheel with SRS fits? (not sure I can get a W126 one...)

Thanks :)

For ilustration - the car as I bought it yesterday... To be DE-tuned to stock!
200K (kms) on the clock and runs like a beast.

I think they do fit, yes. Seem to be quite expensive though.

Nice car by the way, the Borbet wheels look good. What wooden steering wheel is it?

Wheels are nice and look good, but I don't like them on W126 - and 225 width is just way too much but I guess a narrower tyre won't fit on them.

I'm aiming for either original 205/60/15 (I think) or maybe 16" - had those on my old W126 and it was a perfect ride.

No idea about the steering wheel, but it's nothing original - horn doesn't work and it rattles... horible, really...

If your car came with an airbag this would have been the steering wheel it had

You can fit 124 ones but I think you`ll have to work on the horn wires IIRC

This wheel says "SRS".

There are two generations - the older "RS" was first put in W116 I believe, and in older W126s - that's what I have. Then there's a newer "SRS" system (not sure of the differences - belt pre-tensioners maybe?).

I have never seen an original "RS" steering wheel, so that's why I'm asking... are you sure a "SRS" wheel will work? I sure do not want to have an airbag explode in my face :)

This is the classical non Airbag one in W126's , Got two of those somewhere ! And I presume as a MB parts dealer we could look for a different one, throw me a PM. :surrender:

124 steering wheels DO fit 126's. I believe you asked that earlier. I have removed the 124's and installed them on 126's.

I absolutely LOVE those wheels! Too bad you're so far. I'd love to work out something with you if you should ever decide to get different ones.

If you find an _easy_ and economic way how to get them to Florida... ;-)

My guesstimate is at least $150 to ship them to you, I'm not sure if that's really economical and our post service sucks badly... Can't you get ones like that in States?
