Hey guys,

This might sound like a stupid question. So in the past, i had to replace my 02 sensors because they were malfuctioning, and everything's been great since. Recently, living in Canada, it rains alot. i normally have the car parked in the garage and indoor parkades, but a few times now, i notice if i park the car outside while it's raining (maybe for an hour), when i come by and turn on the car, the idling is really rough.

symptoms:
- rough idling
- rough idling when put into drive (about 500rpm)
- car rattles as it's about to stall
- sometimes when rpm drops a LITTLE too low it stalls
- when i'm driving, the first 30-40kms/h is really sluggish/rough, and then it smooths itself out.
- i park it back in the garage, thinking of bringing it to the mechanics, and then the next day, it's fine, as if nothing's wrong.

And maybe it's a coincidence, but it's strange because this ONLY opened 3 times for me, while it was raining and i left the car parked outside for a duration of time.

Any ideas as to what is the problem? Maybe something leaks the rain into the engine? Thanks in advance.

carbon buildup in distributor absorbs moisture and wreaks havoc with the contacts, and changes the timing of the firing. Change caps & rotors.

What year is your car? I'll usually see harness issues first start to manifest themselves when it's raining out.

You are also more likely to experience arcing when it's moist out.

You might need to check the plug connectors on the O2 sensors..

They are very difficult to close down completley the last bit before they click into place is tough.. And why the rough running.. moist air denser fuel air mix if O2 sensors not heating properly incorrect info to ECU..lumpy till they get to temp and the right mix..

try it..
