Please give me a clue!

I was sitting waiting on a train to pass and I noticed the truck idling rough. When I tried to accelerate it lost rpms for a few seconds. As I continued to drive home I noticed that it intermittently did the same thing. Plugs & wires are 4months old. Filters are new. Any ideas on what it could be?

Oh yeah, could be CPS as well (Cam Position Sensor)

I would start with cleaning EGR Tube...then MAF (if MAF cleaning helps...buy a new one and replace)...then O2s...then Cats.

Of course check CELs FIRST...before throwing parts at it. Also...checking for a leak can help

Boardboy, let's get these acronyms correct. There is no such thing as a CPS. The correct acronym, throughout the automotive industry, for a Crankshaft Position Sensor is CKP.

The correct acronym for a Cam Position Sensor is CMP.

Let me first say, I always appreciate your mechanical advice and assistance - always first class.

As far as the acronyms...not sure..I am not a mechanic. I simply replaced a bunch of CPSs on BMWs, Fords, Chevys, Mercedes, and even a Porsche. All have been called CPS (even by the parts guys I bought them from). So...CPS or CMP - Cam Position Sensor (as I wrote) is still correct.

It's sad you even took the time to correct an acronym that I took the time to write out - the OP might have been better suited to your mechanical knowledge - not pedantics of an acronym.

Again, I appreciate every bit of help you've given me, but this seems over the top.

CKP - as it's the layperson acronym like CPS.

I hated being called a "sniper"...but it's kinda pointless to correct folks, telling them I was a designated marksman. People know what a sniper is...just like a designated marksman. Standard or not...it gets the point across.

Look up any forum (including the other forums here) and MANY people use the non-standard term. Call it what you like, but the OP still needs your help.

Sorry for the little highjacking.

Did you receive the m14dmr or the m40 for your service rifle?

Being a m14 /m1a platform nuts I have to ask;)
