My 1986 420 SEL vibrates when braking. Seems to come from the left front wheel. Tonight I removed the wheel. Turning the hub by hand it turns easily for about 220 degrees. The other 140 degrees is hard to turn. I do not have a dial gauge. My guess is I have a warped rotor. Before I start doing surgery I'm asking if you agree that the partial hard rotating is in fact an indicator of a bad rotor. Or is it something else.

Thanks much

Probably. You could take out the pads and see, but it's likely. MB dealer is often the cheapest for brake parts, oddly.

I replaced the rotors and pads. Car stops! Wheels have not fallen off!

Shutter is gone. Brakes smoothly. Most time consuming part of this job was to find a 10mm hex socket to use with my torque wrench. Went to four stores without finding one. Finally borrowed one.
