Hi all,

How much do you pay for road tax on your Vito? I am confused as the current tax on my vehicle which expires 30/09/12 cost £118.25 for 6 months from previous owner.

Checking the DirectGov website..my 03 reg 2.2 Vito 108CDI should only cost £74.25 as it is Euro 4 Light Goods Vehicle, registered after 1st March 2003 & below 3500kg. I have verified the registration number with London Emissions and it is compliant.

Trying to save a few pennies and preparing my dispute with DVLA, am I right or am I missing something?

Thanks

It all depends on what it was registered as from what i understand, you will find it is similar with the 639 and that is euro 5. If it is a commercial vehicle the tax is higher but you should still be able to get cheaper tax even if it is registered as plg but they won't have it

My 638 was £189 but that is £205 i believe now. Travelliner and van is more than duallinner

Just taxed mine online 10 mins ago and its an 03 108 cdi and that cost me £118.25 for the 6 months, I thought light goods vehicles were a standard rate these days? its the same price my dad pays to tax his 57 plate kangoo 1.5

It can be different if you are euro 4 or 5 compliant

I just got off the phone to DVLA and my 03 Vito 108CDI fits all the criteria for Euro 4. They have asked me to contact Mercedes and get confirmation from them that it is Euro 4.

Now being bounced around to InterCounty Truck who will hopefully send me a 'data card'.

Once I have this I have to send it to DVLA with my documents to change the tax status. Fingers crossed.

Been a hectic day and only just managed to find a few minutes for this forum ha!... will chase up Mercedes tomorrow (02/08) and pursue this. I'm not going to let the government overcharge me. I will keep this thread updated with my progress.

Nashdon: I think we're at the same point with this. If you are phoning around Mercedes dealerships or Head Office and manage to get someone to confirm the engine is Euro 4 and is willing to send verification we're onto a winner. Keep this thread updated with your progress please, two heads better than one :)

Cripes!

Just received a reply from Mercedes (Maastricht) as follows:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mercedes-Benz Model: Vito108 4X2 3000
Chassis No: *****************

Thank you for contacting the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center Maastricht N.V.

This vehicle does not meet with Euro 4 approval and is classified as Euro 3 approved.

Should you have any further requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.

Looks like I will be robbed by the UK treasury after all *sigh*

END OF THREAD

Just found this little gem that should help others quickly work out their vehicle euro status should they dig this thread up in the future:

It is all very easy :)
the 8th character of your VIN
3 = Euro 3
4 = Euro 4 with no particle filter
5 = euro 4 WITH particle filter and additive ...

Signing off from this thread. Good luck Nashdon

I don't think that is correct because the 8th character of my vin is 3 and my van is euro 5
