The oil change is the only "crazy important" part. But there are a lot of other items that should be checked anyway. Your owner's manual has the list.

On the subject all of the items on the list are things that should be checked on all brands of vehicles regularly. And their manuals also state so. But most people ignore them. MB is one of the few brands that uses scare tactics to get owners to follow the instructions. The results of this is one of the reasons why there are so many 30 year old MBs still being used as daily drivers.

If you only want your vehicle to last 100-150k miles then basically be junk then you can ignore all of the extra service.

*Edit* - This shouldn't imply that you need to take it to a dealer for all of the extra work. If you are halfway mechanically inclined you can do all of it yourself or even if not spend half the money and just take it to a good mechanic.
