Is anyone trying to take less trips like me or drive slower to conserve gas? If all goes well in the summer I'll be working full time close to home and i'll probably take the bus and lock up the 126 at home.[:)]

Drive slower? What's that?[:D] I didn't notice a bit of difference in the gas mileage if I tried to drive slower, I think you're better off gunning it up to high speed and using the momentum to save fuel. But regardless i still have the SD for the everday errands type stuff, diesel is a ripoff but I can go twice as far on a tank.

my foot as got a little lighter on the gas pedal, less driving and more storing. i feel you can a good amount of miles if you drive these cars pretty conservatively, but thats hard to do with a v8 at your fingertips[:D]

I noticed a "slight" difference driving normally (2100 rpm shifts) then when gunning it a bit more (3000rpm shifts).

When the weather is warm and I got the sub in the back pumping with all its might you cant help but to see the tach doing a workout.[:)]

The only reason i've been driving a little slower is because of the increased presence of the state police on the highway. I guess it's due to the warmer. I drive about 20 miles each way to the office, so I always let someone else speed in front of me in the hopes that if the state man does come bustin' out of the bushes, he will get the guy in front of the pack. But I know, it's really up to the officer at that moment.

I was able to purchase the SEL for cash and avoid a car payment. I just pay more at the pump.

Bring your tires up to 34 front, 35 rear, and drive conservatively and you'll be shocked at the distance you'll get. Last summer with full AC blowing all the time, I got 670km on 70 L of fuel. 75% hiway and 25 city. Once you're cruising on the highway, the mass just keeps moving.
You can also make it run a little bit lean, but be very carefull when you start messing around with this or have someone work on it who knows what they are doing.

LOL ya heard about the strike. I'll try the tire thing though. Is it more of a harsher ride and does the car go faster?[:)]

What are U trying to say here? That U are loaded as such the high gas price really does not concern U? I paid for my 560 SEL with cash in my house w/o even going to bank to withdraw. But I have to reduce my driving at avoid paying $2.30 a gollon.

Why all the complaints? Up here in Canada were touching $1.00 per liter and there is 4.546 liters to a gal. as I see it I'm paying $4.55 CDN per gal. In France its $7.00 US a gal. and in Denmark $6.25 US a gal. Try the UK at $2 1/2 pounds per liter. Think the price is high now just wait, a barrel of crude is projected to top out at $125.00. The reason is supply and demand, they can pump all they want but how are they going to ship it?. All the tankers have been leased to China for the next fiscal year, there are no supply ships currently available?

That's true:

It is all about supply and demand: the world economy is booming and the demand is up – we pay accordingly.

I haven’t changed the way I drive at all – I try to drive the 300 D more but it is hot now and the blower motor is out. [:(][xx(]

Driving the same, if the prices are high thats what we have to pay for having the good fortune to drive a classic, heavy, luxury vehicle. If you want kia mileage, buy a kia....... [:)]
