Well damn.... Okay so no S63 then, but kawagirl seems to love her's. 2013 is definitely out of my range for now.2008 s550 is fine it’s only the 2007 s550 with engine defect
All “63 series “ cars from 2007-2012 have multiple engine defects , best to avoid
the 600 only defects is coil packs and Clark rupp makes the fix easy
Finding one, and finding one of the same color? This is wishful thinking, and great if you have nothing else to do.That can easily be fixed with a used hood fender and bumper $300 of parts from junkyard if you can buy the salvage and find the same color car .
07 S550 or S600?Unless the owner can show proof that the sprocket has been changed on the 2007.
Obsidian Black And the whole car was repainted, then ceramic coated.Finding one, and finding one of the same color? This is wishful thinking, and great if you have nothing else to do.
Sorry about the loss, I have some experience in that department as well, unfortunately, so I get it. On the above point, just to be clear, they didn't "let you" remove those parts - you have the right to remove them and they cannot prevent it. Unless you insured those parts as "add-on equipment", they are not included in the insured property. I.e. if someone stole the car, they would compensate you for the value of the car only, and NOT any of the parts you added to it, like stereo, rims, etc. Again, those add-ons are at your own risk, unless you specifically add them to your policy, so therefore they are not included in the buy-back for totaling the car. Good on you for removing them, as it would have been foolish to donate all that extra equipment to the insurance company for free.It should also be noted that AAA and the body shop allowed me to remove my sound system (Sub and and amp), camera's (security cameras), rims and tires (replaced with factory rims and tires), 10" Pioneer deck (Replaced with 40 dollar radio from Walmart), 1500W/3000W inverter and spare battery along with other nick nacks that I needed.
Meh, whatever, when you decide to sell a car yourself, and you list it online to maximize your exposure, expect to answer some questions. I buy and sell a lot of cars myself, and I don't have time to be catching flights all over the country just to kick the tires and have a look. I ask questions up front, so I don't waste my time going to look at a turd. Anyone can polish a turd and make it look good in a low-res internet photo. I've found that sellers who aren't interested in answering questions, or who give lazy half-answers, are usually hiding something.I buy, sell, and export used cars, if you were serious about a car, you go to see it. Sellers these days are sick and tired of people who ask endless questions online
if you were serious, go to see, it, assess the condition and then make an offer. We immediately get tired of anyone asking a lot of questions before coming to see it.
My main issue was that he did not mention that when we first spoke. It was call me after 10 AM to meet up and check it out.And I understand why that seller did that. Too many jerks come to see a car, especially a luxury car, and are really just looking to joyride in it or even perhaps make off with it somehow. Mostly joyriders. He wants to avoid wasting his time. However, people don't need to be jerks about it.
I realize that showing up with well over US $10,000 in cash is not really feasible. That's likewise asking to get robbed, and that's happened with some Craigslist cases before, too. I might've told him, "you're asking five figures, and that's a lot of cash to be showing up to someone whom I've never met." I'd then negotiate from there and offer to do the money transaction at my bank, and if he held firm and/or was a jerk about it, I'd pass just as you did.
There are other S600's out there. The fact that I have one is proof of that. You'll run across the right deal for the right car; just keep your eyes open.

Well...he was selling it online and I asked to see it. He said check with him on Monday....I buy, sell, and export used cars, if you were serious about a car, you go to see it. Sellers these days are sick and tired of people who ask endless questions online

Be wary of the 2008 S63, as was previously mentioned. One huge issue is camshaft retainer bolts have a way of backing out or breaking, causing instantaneous engine death. If upgraded bolts have been installed, no worries. But there are other issues with that engine that I can’t recall. Others will chime in. I’d recommend you pursue any W220 or w221 v12 or a w220 s63 for a performance vehicle. It’s frustrating sifting through all the chaff to find one great car.Update:
Sooooooooo, they don't want to sell the 2010 S600. And the 2007 S600 magically has bad coil or coil packs that are now being replace. Which seem to happen right after I asked had they been replaced and the answer was yes. A year ago.![]()
So I went and checked out a 2008 S63. Seems to run great, but maybe someone can answer this or point me in the right direction. It has the 10.25 Android unit in it, but we could not seem to get the car options to show up on the left side of the screen. (Parking sensor, screen or abc - Car also has been converted to coil over.) And when the car is off, the speakers emit a bunch of static. Anyone ever heard of a situation like this? Normally it's no sound, but his car is off and the unit seems to be still on. He says after a while it goes off which sounds like the android unit side has went to sleep but is not turned off.
Thanks for that info. Very true. Might have to do like others are thinking and up my budget....Be wary of the 2008 S63, as was previously mentioned. Yes, I passed it on by... I'm still looking. If I saw all that on a car, I'd either be lowballing them or just pass on them. There are other cars out here which are good. Might just take a bit of patience, but they're out there.
I'll take better ones later today. I was running back and forth with getting the car.Let’s see som pics ! 2011 s550? That’s a good year. The 5.5 is very powerful and goes 300k miles easy
