I have the stock steel wheels with the short wheel bolts. I would like to put the after market alloys on. Where is the best place ( Toront GTA) :confused:to get the proper size bolts other than the stealership? One tire shop said they usualy put studs in with thread lock and use a nut instead of the supplied bolt. Anyone doing this, I see the hub has a through hole so you have to be carefull not to go to long.

Hi,

I'm not sure about after market alloys as I have always had standard factory alloys on my cars... but I read the manual the other night and there is a section on using the correct lenght of bolts - there is a difference depending on whether you have the MB steel rim / MB 6.5J alloy / MB 7J alloy. I would say go to the stealership spare parts division and ask for MB alloy wheel bolts - they are a stealership but, really, how much mark-up can they put on bolts?? [at least with MB bolts you know that the bolt thread will match the thread on your wheel hub] Or does the wheel bolt size make a difference depending on alloy wheel design? and/or just alloy wheel depth? I'm not sure..... but..

This is a good source of infomation on wheels and tyres - perhaps try email this guy....

Hope this helps...
