Rims Again

A set of rims for Merc stamped on the inside is, 8JX16 H2 e11. Ronal stamped on spoke. ?No AMG on the wheels.
I did get the wrong ones before....
I have read that these would do, but in light of getting it wrong before I ask, would these rims do for a W126??.
What Price for a set, provided they are in good condition?

8JX16 H2 e11 are IMO the most perfect classic W126 size width and offset...
AUD $300 is a good buy then?. They Appear to have minimal rash. I will post Pics when I can.
They Are painted.. I don't feel that the White Spokes/centers would look good on a silver car. ?? Strip

I would personally, I hate painted wheels with a passion. I have a set of Centras in 16', even have all of the center caps. Mine do need refinished though.

Sounds like you're set. If you get them for $300 Aus you're really set! Those are perfect for the w126. Check out my thread on refurbishing if you want to become one with your new wheels. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w12...94-5-spoke-ronal-penta-refinish-painting.html
AA, I have been reading that thread, part of what motivated me looking into these rims. I think that I will be spending a considerable time in the garage with the wheels. Any other tips on refurb process??. These rims are slightly different from yours, the center is not as raised as yours. What size rubber did you wrap those beauties in?.

Sorry guys but gotta' fly :)

More later. I went with 225/50/16's. Rubs only on full suspension compression and speedo is almost spot on.

I'm back! Great trip with a good crew. I should have given Aspect a heads up as we had a Monterey overnight.

Denver, let's see a pic of your wheels. Best advice for doing this is don't concentrate on any one spot when you're sanding any curb rash. You want the entire outer rim even and not wavy. Don't expect absolute perfection unless you want "mine" metal fron the inner hub and have it TIG welded back into any voids. If you're going to clear coat the bare polished they should be absolutely clean before you shoot them. I've had two wheels come up with clear coat problems with all the wet weather and rain. The material was very thick to shoot and I put it on not as wet as it should have. I should have put more down and lived with the runs to sand later. Now I know!!! :) The thicker depths are fine but the thin areas got water under them and failed. There's no problems on the painted inner areas as there's a lot more grip having a painted substrate. I might just strip the clear from the bare metal and run with that instead of redoing them. The bare metal is a bit brighter and I don't mind tossing some polish on every now and then :) Good luck and let's see how they turn out!!!

AA

Glad your trip was good. Is that one of your "FlyGirlz"?.
I will be getting stuck into them on Thursday. I am not sure how I will finish them yet, I am hoping that what's under the paint is pristine, then I will probably just clear them.
Heres a couple of pics.

Silver or Black?, That is the Question!.

There is still work to be done!. Life in all its glory had sidelined these rims for a while, but... I do need to finish this.
Silver or black? Which color would look best on this silver SEL?

I think I like the silver, they're looking good!
Good on ya' Denver!

That's a tough question but I'd go with the silver on the five spokes. If you had monoblocks I'd say go black. There's just not enough "weight" to the look of the five spokes to pull off the black on silver.

btw: Yes, one of my favorite "Flygirlz" out on a Monterey overnight. We started at the airline together and she's a blast. She along with a female captain gave me my nickname. She'll walk the aisle during her service with bags of nuts asking the passengers, "Penis?...Penis?" :D I'm looking forward to getting back Monterey overnights. I've come to find there's good stuff there to do
2 votes silver & 2 black here @ home. Wife likes the silver, I was thinking black to compensate for brake dust. I thought the silver on a silver car would be too much silver. My eldest (17), says "really mix it up", black in front, silver in the back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These wheels are so easy to clean that it's a non-issue. WAY better than the old centra style I had!
Black on one side, silver on the other. Just kidding. I prefer black wheels but the silver would tie it all together.
Silver, but ditch the wheel arch covers as they detract from the lines of the car/wheels...and they induce RUST!
It is Done!!
