My sl right side rear tail lights are out.

The turn signal works and am not sure about break lights.

What is the fix for this. Is there a particular bulb size and where to get
it. May this be a fuse issue as Ive had some fuse problems last year.

I understand this is a lame q but im a white collar thru and thru except
for doing oil changes and car washes.

many thanks:)

You need to check the fuses and/or bulb .... or pay someone to do it.
The fuse box is under the panel next to the passenger's right foot.
Access to the bulbs is inside the trunk by unscrewing and removing the light assembly. A burned bulb and its proper replacement type will be evident on inspection.

Ez fix this time. Examined fuses and all looked ok via visual.

Then removed the right real housing and carefully pulled out the light assembly and the tiny 12v bulb was brown. Went to electronic store for a
test and bought a replacement for $ 3. Installed, tested and put housing and light assembly back and completed work . - All is well.:D

These days, getting a little 'blue' (or dirt) on the white collar can be considered a bonus. Proof that you are willing to try to save a few bucks by DIY. It adds value to you by broadening your skill set.

Maybe I'm just cheap, but I'd rather pay $3.00 for a bulb and fix it myself rather than spend a LOT more than that at a dealership.

Besides, it's sort of fun to detect, diagnose, isolate, and repair a problem yourself. :D

Keep up the good work,
Scott

This was the EZ fix to the roadster.

The tougher one to solve is that the back-up lights work about
10% of the time.

My indy says its a tough fix and there is the need for a replacement wire harness that is expensive, a pain to install and hard to come by.

The only other solution suggested was to install a manual back-up light switch. I would need to take memory medication to cooridinate this for sure.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Did he check the back up light switch? It is less than $20.00.

As the the break light switch I never asked ( what do I know).

The indy is a Mercedes only repair store and I have to believe he did.

Is this a diy fix??

Many thanks

Fill in your profile with car and location. Helps to not have to keep going back to look.

I don't know about replacing the back up light switch on a manual trans. Here is a parts pic from the EPC. I circled the switch.

The pdf attachment was rowdie's doing. He got it from the MB-USA Electronic Parts Catalog.

There's a link in the 'Info' section of the EGv107.

As rowdie mentioned if you go to the User CP you can fill out your profile and let us know where you're at and such...
