The shop to take your Mercedes to in Rhode Island or southern MA is RDM. Ray's a Certified Mercedes Benz Master Technician - and a great guy to have in your corner. Since RDM is just a few miles down the road from the local MBZ dealership (Viti), so far I'm sure I've saved many $100's per-mile by going there instead. With care & feeding on two aging 560's (an SEL & SEC), he's the reason I can afford to continue enjoying these cars. I know he wrenches on other german marque's (BMW, Audi, etc.) and newer Benz', plus I see a lot of older classic SL's in the shop, but you just gotta love a mercedes mechanic who's owned the same model as yours

I won't quote his shop rates here, but I'm absolutely certain I couldn't find a mercedes expert anywhere else in New England, at his prices ! RDM is in Tiverton RI. I forget the address, but his #'s 401.625.1305 (I keep that in my wallet). Photos added to show that you can't miss his sign ;)

Well, I saw advertisement of this RDM when I was looking to have engine mounts replaced 2 months ago. However, their final quote is just about $50 lower than the quote of about $670-680 from dealer (Viti Mercedes). I was disappointed and finally I was able to find a mechanic working in Mercedes dealer, total cost $330 (I bought parts on-line and pay labor).

I went to RDM - once. For a bunch of suspension work. He talks a good game, and his rural/home location would seem to indicate low overhead, but I assure you he is no cheaper than other shops. Plus, he did not meet the promised date. Unimpressed.

Fact check

I went to RDM - once... I assure you he is no cheaper than other shops.
Before using RDM, I first called Metric Motors in Rehoboth MA - their quoted shop rates were $25 per-hour more. I have also used VITI for alignments & such, so 'assurances' without data - are equally "unimpressive".:tosser1: If one looks over at the "other" forum, where I first found mention of RDM (& didn't post), all their references are fairly glowing.
