Hi Again,
My 1988 300CE is RHD and the right (drivers door) switch for my seat has broken. The backrest button has broken away from the mechanism. I could not find a replacement on the internet under $500. Would anyone know if it can it be repaired please?
Thanks,
Dave

It has no memory as far as I know??? It may have had before I bought it, though.
The black button that you twist to move the back rest forward and backward just spins around - as if it is broken inside. I will pull it off tonight when I return home and take another look. Yesterday, I didn't know that they just pulled off. Thanks to this forum, I now know!
Cheers

Twist???

To move the backrest front or back you push the top edge of the switch part front or back, just like the seatback moves. There's no twisting of anything.

Probably how it got broken.

To the OP, the part number for a non memory switch is 124-820-8810, R/S

I may have used the wrong terminology - not twist - more pivot about the centre - from the top edge.
Anyway, I didn't get around to pulling it off last night - had a good excuse - our MG Christmas Party - so will try to get around to it tonight.
I will also try ordering a "new" one, as advised - Thanks very much indeed!
