Like the title says, Im having trouble with the reverse lights. They wont come on when I shift into reverse. I've replaced ALL bulbs and checked the ground, starting to think the problem has something to do with the shifter? The reverse lights will quickly flash sometimes in between switching from P to N, very rarely-they'll stay on though. Did some research and saw something about a
"Nuetral Saftey Switch"?? And how they can sometimes crap out. Or bad bushings?? Can anyone give me some advice as to where this problems origins might be?

Check out your Neutral Safety Switch, that sounds like the culprit.

Does the shifter feel loose when moved fore/aft? That would probably mean the shifter is already in R but if the shift linkage bushings are shot then the linkage will not have engaged R yet.

If you're able to drive in reverse but there are just no reverse lights, then do check the neutral safety switch.

If its a manual, I had the same problem, there is a reverse light engage switch on the tranny, might be the same for an auto. However I might be getting it confused with a BMW E30...its been a while.

Well sounds like its the neutral saftey switch then. She'll shift into reverse just fine, just no lights. Would it be possible to get my hands on that write up you did? Id appriciate it much. Thanks for the help- tired of people telling me my lights are out all the time.
