Has anyone figured out how to make cool air come out of the airscarfe.Wouldn't that feel good in the summer?

that would be nice... but i'm not aware of how to do that. I sure wish Mercedes-Benz offered the "active ventilated" seats in the SLK that are offered for the SL.

The air scarf is completely independent from the cars heating and air conditioning system so getting cool air from the A/C to come out of the air scarf vents would require running ductwork from the dashboard to the air scarf vents. A major re-engineering job.

I think it would be nice if the heater could be turned off so that it just blew air of the ambient temperature. I think that's better than nothing and wouldn't require tearing half the car apart to do.

I assume you mean the heater element in the seat back for the air scarf?
Yup.
Perhaps an auxilliary switch to break the heating element out of the electrical loop.
