hI THERE.
So today, got my Resonator deleted with straight steel piping installed - loved the sound - not too loud - not to quiet. However, when I noticed when i parked my car today by my house that when in park or in neutral - it sounds like i have a diesel LOL - i mean the noice that comes out of the exhaust when car is parked is NOT BUM BUM BUM BUM but more like CLINK CLINK CLINK CLINK - sound either like a diesel or like a scooter :-(((( I NO LIKE
what can i do to fix it?? preferrably to make it a deeper tone !

Please help !!!! I though about magnaflow x- pipe instead of straight pipes - but muffler guy said not to waste money. should I put magnaflow Mufflers??? will it make it a lot louder???/ i dont want it too loud!

thanks

I only know what I can tell you about my other DOHC engines that are built for speed on the track in barely street legal cars.
We always balance the exhaust. Before the X-pipe it was the H-pipe, but they have always been in use to balance the pressures on each side.
As far as the noise you can get a better sound with a Flowmaster, Magnaflow other hi-perf muffler. I use Bassani 3" stainless exclusively. However their mufflers are basically straight through so that is why I am mentioning the other brands.

I am sort of surprised that your muffler shop man the X-pipe and/or muffler would not make a difference. I can tell you from personal experience that they do.

Well, he said that replacing resonator with the xpipe will make little difference (waste of money on xpipe) he suggested to do steel straight pipes - which I like! - AAnd i do like the way the car sounds, i am just frustrated with the deisel like sound coming from exhaust pipes - when at idle or parked. should i just put resonator back on and install magnaflows instead?? would that be to loud? cuz i have 2 little kids, and i dont want dronning inside the car or to much noise either

I can't speak for the drone. I have never done a hi-perf exhaust on a V6.

I can say that I do not get a drone on my V-8s. IMO some sort of high flow resonator/muffler would diminish the diesel sound. I would call Magnaflow tech support. They have been helpful to firends of mine that did not want to spend the money on the Bassani stainless systems.

I have a2003 e500 with x pipe and amg e55 exhaust from secondary cat back (put xpipe right after secondary cats)The xpipe helps with low end throttle response and the amg mufflers help with top end. I have ran my car a few times against 2009 mustang gt 350z, g35 BMW 540i and beat them by about 1 to 2 car lengths. The rest of my car is stock. So does xpipe make a difference yes it does but needs to be combined with the right muffler. I will do a video of how it sounds and post it. It's not loud but u can now tell it has a v8 with a nice low rumble. I could've gone louder removing the secondary cats but I work in oil and gas and use my car to drive clients from overseas so still wanted to keep classy, it is a benz after all .
