Didn't see anything in the DIYs. Resonator is making an awful racket - rust on the inside - original exhaust on 2000 e320.

Has any member replaced the resonator and muffler assembly. It looks like a "simple" unbolt drop and replace. Or am I fooling myself?

I will be working under the car on jackstands. Can get an OE replacement for $450-600

Would really rather place the whole unit (based on age of system) than cut and splice new resonator in.

Thoughts?

Personally, I would just do the X-Pipe mod. Check the thread about it in the E55 forum. Cheap, easy, no negative side effects.

If the resonator is rattling it might also be broken-down substrate from the rear cats. Either way, you are right to rectify the issue.

Good luck.

Hi guys, I'm interested in this mod too..
Will there be any gains on the 3.2 V6?
Maybe together with a remap?

I'm indeed enjoying the sound of the car but feel that I (and people along the road) should have slightly more of that V6 sound especially with WOT..

Check Codes - Thanks. I am very interested in this mod, BUT, . . .

The threads were very convoluted with opposing opinions for and against . . . I'm not really concerned with dyno numbers etc...

I could not find one photograph of the Mod so I could visualize it and talk to my exaust guy about it. Do you have a link to a good photo - TIA
