reset o2 light

jus spent an arm and leg on an o2 sensor and the o2 light is still on how do i turn it off? some one from this board keep telling me it was the sensor but i was reluctant to belive though i bought ans installed one the car still smells wtf is wrong with my baby benz? [:(!][:(!][:0][:0]
