hi folks,

the wood console in my 560sl is cracking. this isn't to say it's coming apart - just that the cracks are very noticible.

does anyone suggestions for replacing this? also, i'm thinking about replacing the shift knob with a wood one, but it would have to be the same wood finish as the console.

Wood Dash Replacement

Hi Maverick,

I was in the same situation as you several years ago. I had the opportunity to either repair the cracks or replace the wood panels. Repairing the cracks would have cost the same as replacing so I decided to replace. Let me warn you that I had to order five times through my local mechanic in order to find the exact wood panel match for my car. I would say it was worth it still because to this very day, all the wood panels still look great and perfectly match. Just make sure to have a local mechanic who is understanding to the needs of matching the wood panels. Cost for two wood panels, the panels around the climate control and power windows cost a total of $200.00 five years ago. Hope this helps.
