My new purchase - 1998 E300DT with over 250k on it has the driver seat wear out (that what it took).
I call the dealer and they want 4-digits for the replacement leatherette. Local shop quoted me $400 just for the bottom cover claiming they have original leatherette.
Still too much. I found better deals on ebay, but the descriptions are a bit sketchy.
Did anyone find good and not wallet breaking replacement?

I would say $400 for the bottom cover plus install is about right

The "standard" aftermarket suppliers for OE MBtex replacements are World Upholstery or GAHH, call them at (800) 222-9577 or (800) 722-2292 respectively for quote for single driver's bottom cover .

Local shops order from World and GAHH - and both sources offer decent wholesale/shop discounts to support that independent trade so .

Keep the beat !

I got a nice Mercedes seat bottom - OEM light grey, nicely padded. It's just that - it's fabric. Before having a chance to put it on, I sold the car.

PM me if you're interested.

I have tan interior -thanks for the offer.
GAHH wants $470 for single piece or $1700 for front seats kit.
Is the leatherette build out of gold?

kajtek, i thought mb leatherette will never wear out, as in my e300d still like new, what's up with yours? my 300sdl has real leather that does get worn, i have been thinking to grab a set in leatherette to replace existing ones.
did you check parts yards? not sure if there is a pick-your-part in your area, normally the whole seats would cost less than 400 if you find a set from them. best bet is jy. good luck.

I checked those "leatherette like" covers on ebay and they look cheap for still significant amount of money.
If I don't find stuff that is close to original, I rather go with something like this that is really cheap Mercedes-Benz Seat Armour Seat Towel-Seat Cover, Tan | eBay
SDL it took me comparing 2 cars to figure out that the wear out seat is LEATHER.
The same age leatherette on other car with only slightly lower mileage only shows minimal wear on the edge where driver slides getting in. This is how leather wears out. Still not bad for 14 years, 1/4 million miles.
BTW I have been to Grece on long vacations twice, what was long time ago and remember seeing lot of sheep, but no chemical plants. How da heck they ended up selling leatherette?

Man, that looks bad. You should have demanded to get $500 more off the price. MB with a torn seat is very hard to get sold.

The main rule of the purchase is that the buyer should pay the seller :D
I can't believe how cheaply I've got the car. For the price I was expecting a beater, while the car has lot of new parts and is very clean, although with some bumper scratches and this seat. Drove over 3000 miles in 3 days.

Kajtek1, congratulations on your "new" E300DT! Sorry I don't know where to get the seat cover you need but the good news is you only need to buy the lower one. Where did you fly to get this car?

Thomaston, CT - my personal record for distance car buying, although I sold and drove motorhome farther than that.
The black MB we pick up in Harrisburg about 5 years ago, but than I flew with my wife making it mini-vacations not a killer drive. You know what I did pick up in Chicago ;)

When you said 3000 miles I figured you went somewhere close to the east coast. You drove a long way to buy the silver W211 too I guess. Haha, SURE, I remember that car full of beer! Harrisburg PA I suppose you meant, but that was the other E300DT correct?

W211 I bought around Chicago, what was shorter drive. ;) Sad I had to sell this one, but the black W210 serves my wife well, while the Desert Silver (it is gold to me) will be my son's. Sad part W210 trunk fit only 8 cases of beer

Only 8 cases? How many were in the W211? I have never tried to fit that many in mine. Desert Silver is not my favorite color but my 1998 E430 was that. There are a lot of them out there and many fans for it.

W211 does not have tank behind the seat and the trunk is longer. I fit 9 bigger cases of beer with room to spare.
Desert silver are rare on West Coast, where most buyers seem to prefer black or silver. I like whites for practicality, but good luck finding one.

Thanks for the reminder pic Kajtek1. :D

I did not know there was a tank behind rear seat. Black and silver are most common here too but white is fairly common also.

3K miles = $500 gas + 42 hours of driving + lodging + tire wear + ...
DIESEL was about $380 for the trip. I am "making" about $800 profit on kielbasa and beer I carried from Chicago to California.
Found the exact leather from passenger seat for $150 on ebay. That include 2 pieces and headrest with free shipping. I .am good :D
