i changed the planet gears and output shaft in my transmission now it will not shift from 2nd to 3rd. Before it wouldnt even shift to 2nd from 1st, but after warming it up and driving a little it goes to 2nd but not 3rd. the check engine light comes on again even after erasing the codes with my friends snap-on computer. i get codes

LR VSS (left rear vehicle speed sensor) which seems to be frozen as the values on the computer do not change as the LL VSS does. but the speedometer does work.

also getting codes 147- implausible gear gear slippage

and P0700 - Read ETC diagnostic trouble code Memory current code

Does anyone have any idea what i should be doing??? my cars been sitting since august 08 and i want to see if i can fix this without dropping $2400 on a rebuilt tranny

speedo driven from front left wheel not an issue here..
Looks like you have rear speed sensor(on Didff ) probs.. or valvebody in box prob.. did you try a manual upshift?

Sounds like you could be having issues w/ the electronic gear selector..VERY common on a .6. Have you gone through fresh actuation's?
When you run through the gears manually what are your actual values? Does the trans 'try' to get into the correct gear?

Where are you located?

im in the Boston,MA area. when i manually shift through the gears while driving i dont feel anything from the transmission, as if they shifter isnt doing anything, it just stays in gear but doesnt shift.

i have no idea what going through actuations means. could it be a valve body problem or a bad transmission control module?

Actuation s is something you have to initiate w/ the computer. I'm not certain if the snap on unit capable of this. I Know the SDS is.

You want to pull real time data and see if the selector is telling the trans to shift and it's not or if moving the lever is not giving the signal to shift.

How many miles on this car? Once these start to fail electronically I like to change the gear selctor module and the control board. The selector is VERY sensitive to having any fluids dumped in them!

You should bring this car to a shop that has the SDS, there are quite a few in Boston. They should be familiar w/ the problems one usually see's w/ a .6

go to bonded transmission in Framingham, MA, ask for Mike, tell him Bayhas in the black S class with gazillion miles on it sent you... and tell him I told you to ask him to take care of you...

He will advise you in the right direction...

one transmission shop said this

"these units use a contact plastic plate above the valve body that has two transmission speed sensors that fail all the time,we replace them on every rebuild as well as for just about every other complaint on these units, and do yourself a favor and replace the small electrical connect with its new o rings that bolts into the front side of the unit ,it will leak at some point garenteed. "

they said if they did that and reset the limp mode it would be about 400-$600
but it sucks because what if they do that and theres still a problem.

Bayhas i did write an email to your friend Mike in framingham, i wouldve went there but im in salem,ma so its a hike, which im willing to take but i just wanted to get in touch with him first. they sound like good honest people i hope he can help, i wouldnt mind giving him the buisness even though hes far

Yes, that's the contact plate fails all the bloody time, as does the TCM in the shift gate. Thus why I prefer to change them out as a pair, eleimate the KNown electronic problems with these boxes.

4-600 is a fair price.
