Hi All from Ireland !

Newb here. More of a bimmer and Toyota man but had my brother's W211 E220 sc up with me today suffering from suspension knock.

Quick inspection led me to the on side (RHD) upper control arm ball joint. It's in a pretty bad way and you can get it to knock even with the wheels on the ground (movement at 12 o clock).

I also noticed that the oil filled bushing on the thrust arm is also shot. There's grease everywhere on that side. Looks like the damper is also shot but it could just be grease sprayed up from the bushing.

I hope someone can help me here :)

I have part on order and the job itself looks straight forward enough.

However, from memory (the car is gone now) one side of the nut/bolt combo seems to be behind the liner or buried in the car somewhere?

This looks like its going to be a pita? Any advice?

Also, anyone know the torque specs for the control arm nuts/bolts and the balljoint?

Many thanks.

I would get the service manual and make sure you understand the WIS steps first before tackling this..

The WIS refers to non standard suspension. The model I am dealing with uses standard dampers. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
