I'm trying to do the opposite - to replace the star hood emblem with the flat badge. I have a 2013 E350. Really wanted the sport package but dealer did not have and offered me a fully loaded "Luxury" model instead for same price; however, I never liked the star emblem protruding from the hood. Does anyone know whether it's possible to replace the star emblem with the MBZ badge, and does anyone have any pictures of what that looks like?

Before and after. Changed to an aftermarket grill also. Pics and lighting is bad but hopefully it gives you an idea. I think the character of the hood is much better with the flat badge. It lets you see the form and shape better in my opinion.

I bought the flat hood badge (genuine Mercedes) off of ebay, new for about $36 from seller autohaus24. The original hood emblem on my car was tight as hell and fairly hard to get out but the flat badge just pops right in. The grill change took ten minutes and is so easy to change you can swap it depending on your mood! lol

Sounds like you went through the same issues I did. I got my used 2004 E320 but the star was broken off (and in the glove box). What to do? I looked at both on eBay and finally ordered the star for my Elegance. However, for the additional $30, I'm considering getting the flat badge too.

I replaced my hood ornament with a MB OEM flat badge as well. The process is as simple as you can probably imagine, but I did notice something when I was installing it. I initially pushed the badge into the hood opening and it didn't fit as flush as I imagined it would. I then pushed the badge a little harder (uncomfortably so) and I then heard a very positive click and it then sat down almost completely flush and looks great. I replaced the grill as well and it totally transformed the car.

I have a 2014 E250 that I ordered as a "luxury" model, but I really do like that star in the grille. The only thing preventing me from looking seriously into swapping out the luxury grille and hood ornament for a flat badge and sport grille configuration is the fact that my car has Distronic hardware out the wazoo, or more accurately, right there behind and even extending through the grille. So...does anybody know whether a grille-with-a-star would fit right over all my Distronic stuff with no problem?

The big star grille is everywhere now. Back in the day it was only on the coupes and roadsters where it belongs, not on sedans and camper vans.

Anybody here know how you get the Distrionic Star out of the grill? The non-Distronic (3D) one just twists and pops out. The Distronic (2D) snaps in and lies flush.

Do you pry it out with a plastic interior panels tool?
