My drivers side sliding door window got smashed (they are pop-outs)
I hunted around and have found a replacement - like hens teeth I tell you !

Now it looks easy to replace - is it.....
Any hints, tips or instructions out there?

Pretty hard to get it wrong really. Like you say, easy peasy. Make sure you use the right glue, standard sikaflex goes gooey again in warmth. Some gaffa tape to hold it in place whilst bonding, leave it for a least a whole day to let it cure before driving.

sika aktivator is "painted" on the door where the glass will be stuck on.... clean off as much old glue as practical and use aktivator over it and the paint..... BE CAREFUL aktivator is not meant to be removable.

sika flex "255" or preferably "256" or "sikaflex Move transportation" are the correct glues (move transportation allows for damage to the door panel.

apply glue with a nozzle cut with a tall V notch removed, about 1/4inch at end of nozzle and 1/2inch to point.... "more" glue does NOT make it stronger.

After sticking, allow AT LEAST an hour before moving.... 24hrs is best...... SLAM ANY DOOR and it will BLOW the glass OFF, until its hardened enough.

do it OUT OF the rain..... DAMP days are best (it uses atmospheric moisture as a hardener)

old adhesive is best removed with a warm (hot but not too hot) knife or thin wire

The window glass was a hinged/push out window.

Job was done within 20min, just had to pop the plastic surround, lift window into place place on nuts and do up with a socket. 4 screws for the hinge.
No need for glue etc as the window was a self contained unit.

You didn't tell us that!!!! Seesh!!!

My next job is installing venting windows into the back of my 639. It's either 80 each fitted at the local camper converters or have a go myself. I like these new ones, they have sprung steel as the hinges. Seems sensible.

Glad the job went easy bud, ask us anytime for irrelevant crap :D
