My brake light switch has failed three times in the past 5 years. It seems this is a very common problem. Are there any alternative more robust aftermarket brake light switches that people have been able to use and have better luck with?

Hopefully you are purchasing them from the dealer, but under what circumstances are they failing; no brake lights or BAS/ESP etc problems?

The no name aftermarket part is less relaible than the OEM part, that's why the question was asked if you bought the part from the dealer ?

Actually, (3) time failure in 5 years is dependent more on mileage than age.

Some owner's keep a OEM spare in the glove box.

Do a forum search, some advise "adjusting" the pin/tab when installing. I have never doen this, but I know you are looking for a better solution and there is not a different or better OEM part out there.

Keep the faith !
