I'm about to do the same by fitting CSE's into the SEL, but I did a seat base swap a few years ago - so my memory is a bit vague...

Hopefully somebody might have a better solution, but the way I did it is as follows...

There are 6 bolts to remove to seperate the base and packs from the seat. As the seat is out of the car I used a seperate 12v supply to slide the base forward and back to allow access to the bolts to be removed.

The 4 bolts at each end of the rails are easy, the 2 in the middle are a little tricky if memory serves correctly as the bolts are only exposed when an access hole in the base and the bolt head in the seat line up - there is then a thick aluminium washer that sits inbetween the base and the seat that will fall out when the bolt is removed.

From there the seat comes off the base...

Th next part is the base adaptor to the seat and base which I'm waiting to experience in the next month (work permitting!)

I hope this has helped?!

Regards

Jon

Don't cut the leather! I do not completely under stand what you are doing. Just removing the seats and the bases? Or the center Console?

I have replaced the seat pans, springs, pads in both front seats and you don't have to cut the leather. There are 6 Phillips head screws that hold the seat to the bases. Easiest is to keep the seat in the car and hooked up to the power seat if you have them, that way you can run the base forward and back to expose the center screws.

Elsewhere in this forum I gave explicit direction on how to do this but I cannot remember which thread it was in.

neviu,

OK that is what I thought you meant. You need to connect the seat switch to move the assy forward and back to access the 6 Phillips head screws. in your picture you see a hole in the middle(where the tape covers the lightening holes in the seat frame. there iss a screw in the center of the seat pan on both sides and one screw on each end on both sides. the slider must be moved forward and back to line up the center holess with the screws. Also the slider must be moved forward and back to expose the ennd screws. they are mounted up into the pan.

Hope this helps.

The 3 screws you removed on each side were evenly spaced, one on each end and one in the middle? If so it should fall right off. You'll have to disconnect some wires.

Are you sure you removed the six screws into the seat pan and not the screws that hold the slider. If those were removed then the seat slider drive gear is holding thhe seat pan on. those need to be rep[laced then unscrew the seat pan screws. You may have doubles sided tape still doing it's job between the seat pan and frame too.

Wait!!!! Don't cut them off...

Can you post pictures of the seat upside down with what you have removed, one of us should be able to work out what needs to be done surely.

If you can wait a week to 10 days I'll be pulling mine out to fit the CSE's and can take pictures of the removal and install to show you.
