hello. my steering column switch was faulty and I got a new one. I unplug the battery and removed the airbag. Then I tried to replace it but can not remove the steering allen screw and leave the job for tomorrow then I plug the battery again and turn the ignition on the close the windows and then srs light showed. Do you think after connecting the airbag it will go away? or I have to go to dealer to clear the code. Is it possible to clear?

Do you have a scan tool? Once you reconnect the air bag, the fault code will be stored and you may find that the SRS light stays on until you clear the code. It may also go out but the code will remain. That is not a problem in itself.

If you go to a dealer, they will charge you at their rates. Either buy a scan tool, and there are reasonable ones avilable at about $200 and which will save you money into the future, or find a good independent mechanic to clear it for you. Id fix the steering column first, reconnect the airbag, and then get the code cleared.

thank you. I have a cheap scan tool that only shows ecu related errors. I understand that resetting and clearing the code will solve the problem right? do you have a suggestion for scan tool?

When I had my A200, I had an iCarsoft MB v.2 scanner and it was excellent - just make sure you're buying from an authorised dealer / supplier: lots of fakes around.
Before that I had a full clone of MB STAR system, and then and a very close replica - CarSoft 7.4 - found both an overkill for my then needs (don't even need iCarsoft now LOL) - iCarsoft did everything I ever needed and with ease. Can't recommend it highly enough.
