Removing large merc star

do i have to take the whole car apart for this or is there a method i can use bypassing damaged?

open the bonnet and have a look.
it looks like two bolts and it slide BACKWARDS, then you pull it out.
Just so you know.. the star and the fins on either side are ONE piece.
