Hello folks,
I'm no longer a young healthy male and my arthritis is taking a toll on my shoulders so I need the part number for the guide screw (don't know the correct name) to remove / reinstall the very heavy wheels on my ML500.
Do any of you folks have the part number handy?
Thanks!

I am not sure there is such thing from MB. Go to any shop that works on MB and ask for a bolt from W201 idler arm repair kit. Cut the head off, taper the end. It makes perfect guide for wheels.

Unfortunately the ML's did not come with that handy tool. My 190E has one in the tool kit but it has a different thread size than the ML's. I thought I had seen that tool available from Mercedes years ago, not sure. Ask at your dealer.

When I had my ML430 I purchased that tool from the dealer. I can look at the PN but the question is will it fit the ML500 as well? Not sure about the bolt sizes on both ML430 and 500.
Thanks!

i got the guide pin for my ml320 from the dealer for a mere 4.31$.
helps quite a bit but still not a piece of cake to mount the wheel.
i keep it in the glove box
sorry i cant provide the part number - but your dealer should be able to look it up.
shorter than the illustration at the link provided by 43sqd - and lacks the nice finish too.

Thanks 43sqd. I was looking at a M14 X 1.5. Is that the correct size?

They sell those tools on e-bay for Mercedes and I see two sizes: M12 X1.5 and M14 X 1.5. That's why I was asking.
I will go to the dealer first and then opt for e-bay (#1124 as you said).
Thanks

My 01 E has it but the ML didn't come with one. Be careful if you do get the skinny aluminum one (like the one for my E). It does support the wheel but not for long. I have the sport wheel and that tool (the one from my E) didn't hold up that well - it bent. Or, maybe it was my 19 inchers that bent it. I don't recall but the tool did sustain permanent deformation after one use on one wheel.

You must use both on a wheel so the weight is distributed.

Wish I has 2 but the car comes with only one. BTW, I bought a brass one from performance products. Unfortunately they sent me the wrong threads. Sent it back and never bothered to reoder. maybe they have the correct thread for the ML. The brass piece was very solid.
