Hi my fellow mercedes owners!
Can anyone tell me how to remove the armrest from the drivers seat on my MB? I can see no screws or anything to snap it off with.
Thank you.

Thanks to all who helped me with this question earlier:

- remove seat back (two Phillips screws on bottom)
- remove 27 mm lug on inside...this sits very tight
- done

Why are you taking it off?

Thank you!I'm going to put on seat covers in lether over my very weared out original poulstry.

So you men I should take off the hole back rest and then gain access to the armrest from underneath/inside the backrest?

You don't have to take the armrest off to change just the leather...that sleeve opens in the back of the armrest, and you have to take off the plastic ring around the big release button on the right. However, this is easier if you take off the armrest...the seatback comes right off once you release the two screws on the bottom, but the big 27 mm lug sits very tight. I just did it last week - you can type "armrest" in the search field on the top or just go to page 2 or so of the board to see my thread on it, and the guys who helped me out and whose knowledge I am regurgitating here.

You will have to remove the armrest to change the seat cover.

You did it both ways ? (!)

What replace the armrest cover or the seat cover ?

There is no way to replace the SEAT cover without removing the armrest, absolutely no way...well, not without cutting the seat cover up.

The armrest cover replacement is a 5 minute job, down to 2 minutes with the armrest off.

Noo, not the seat cover. The armrest cover. I had peeled the cover back first, then took the whole thing off to get at the mechanism after I finally found the 27mm lug wrench you talked about. I concur, any work on the armrest is much easier with the whole thing off but if you don't have a 27mm tool and just want to change out the cover, you could make due without I guess.

How in the world does one fix a droopy arm rest. Mine is also down 30 degrees. I know how to remove the seat back, and whole arm rest, this is not the question. I assume the upper stop is broken. What do you all recommend?

I've looked into that, and there actually appear to be at least two different mechanisms - I don't think that either of the two I saw could be salvaged without replacing the entire armrest, unless you just want to jam it at a certain angle...which of course means that if you ever recline the seat, the armrest will stick up like a sore thumb.
