Hey, I figured you guys know what your talking about. I have a clk but my winter car is a 2003 chevy blazer. I just put a alpine s10 in it with an alpine 1000watt amp. I have a stock HU and i tried wiring a switch to the back of my cigerette lighter +. The amp is acting all goofy and wont hit as hard as it should. WHere should i wire the switch?

The power wires to the AMP should be as big of a gauge as practical and as direct to the battery as possible. Use a big relay to control this.

The current in the wire is roughly RMS power devided by the voltage. Even if your 1000 watt AMP is rated at 300 watts RMS, it is easier 25A in the wire. The wire gauge to the cig lighter is simply too thin.
The remote wire is hooked up to the cig, anyway i decided to scrap it and put the sub in my clk, thank anyway!
