Yes, I have removed all of the vacuum powered systems (except the engine) in my car and used an electrical system for the central locking.

Here are some pics and videos.

For the boot lock, first remove the vacuum actuator.

Transfer the lever over to the electrical actuator.

I then screwed the actuator to the cover plate and looked like this after being fitted.

This is the system I used.

And how I implemented it in the doors.

I have also implemented the same system RaceDiagnostics has done.

100% the best mod I have done on my car. I think then entire kit cost £14, plus about two hours of my time.

The kit comes with 4 actuators normally. I can't vouch for the security of the system but I'm pretty sure if someone wanted to steal my car they could anyway.

Note: I had no vacuum central locking at all before this.

Hi all.
Has anyone ever fitted remote central locking to an R107 ? It would need a solenoid or actuator to operate the vacuum piston. Ivan
Hello and welcome. First of all you need to update you profile to state what kind of car you have. On the 560SL there is already actuators in place that you can just tap into. Not sure what year that was started in.

I had remote locking on mine (installed by the previous owner) when I bought the car in 1995. It worked ok for about 10 years then started playing up so I removed it.
There are remotes around now that could be used for garage doors and the car. It's not complicated but low down on my bucket list of round twits

When I had remote central locking and alarm installed in the early 90's I opted to have the electric actuator only installed in the drivers door so that it only physically moves the existing drivers door locking mechanism. With central locking operational, this then locks and unlocks all the locks operated by the normal central locking system.
Might be worth considering?

Many thanks. This is my preferred option.
