Hello everyone, I am brand new to the forums and have just ran into an issue w/ my vehicle. Any advice would really be appreciated.

I searched the forums for the same issue and I have tried a few different suggestions. I have checked all fuses under the rear seat.

Just yesterday I noticed:
1. My remote or inside lock/unlock button was no longer working. I currently have to manually unlock/lock doors.

2. The latch that pops out of the trunk no longer goes back in once the trunk is closed.

3. after pulling fuses from the rear seat, I was able to press the button on the trunk, which allowed it to open and now I have a hissing sound coming from the trunk.

4. my drivers side soft close stopped working a long time ago, however after pulling the rear seat fuses, the drivers side door hisses as well when not closed all the way.

I have called a local mb shop and they suggested that there could be a vacuum leak and that if is nothing serious I am looking at roughly $300ish to repair.

What advice & other recommendations would you suggest that I should try before bringing it to a shop?

Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum.

There are definitely vacuum leaks at the driver door and at the trunk lock. In the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia in the stickies toward the top of the main W220 forum page you will find discussions on repairing those items; you will also find videos on removing door panels and lock mechanisms. The leaks could be in vacuum lines (if you're lucky) or in the diaphragms of the lock mechanisms themselves. If the diaphragm membrane is good, the leak may be in the case, and you may be able to seal it; if not, you're looking at replacing the lock mechanism. Some folks have gotten diaphragms and locks from parts cars.

In either case, you're in for a lot of work as a DIY; a dealer won't repair the mechanisms, they will replace the entire lock assembly, and it will cost far more than $300. An indy may try to repair the mechanism, if it can be repaired.

Skylaw , thank you for your response.

I took the vehicle in for diagnostics. And you were right that they would replace lock mechanisms. Apparently because of the leaks the pse pump is either going bad or completely dead and will need to be replaced, however I still hear the pump kicking on and locking doors when driving away and soft closing the other 3 doors.

My estimated repair costs was <$2300
- driver door latch $ 800 parts labor
- trunk latch $480
- pse pump $848

Look at my face when they told me est cost....priceless.

I read that I should also check a relay in the hood of the car. Do you know which one this is?

If you still hear the PSE pump, I would replace the other items and see if it holds.

I don't know of a relay associated with the PSE pump - and checking it would be much easier if you provided the model year of your car and at least the continent you live on.

The tech may be suggesting replacing the Airmatic relay, something that is advisable if yours was not made by Hella. Read the stuff on airmatic in the Encyclopedia, it will tell you why.
