I am looking at buying a low mileage 1999 C43 Estate in the UK but wonder about it's reliability. A Luxembourg friend bought one when new and it broke down on him, at great cost. A friend of his involved in Merc distribution in Lux told him that the C43 AMG's were over engineered and many came back in to the garage needing repairs.<br>
Is this perhaps an isolated incident? Any comments/experiences would be appreciated.<br>

My previous car was a Silver 99T C43 Saloon. I traded it for a C32, September 2001.<br>

I covered over 30,000 miles in the car with no major problems. I would highly recommend this car to anyone and the only real reason why I changed was for the new model.<br>
