My wife and I are looking at purchasing a 2004 E320 wagon. This will be our first MB.
Could any of you folks give me an idea of what the "typical" yearly maintenance costs might be like?

thanks,
Chris

I would go for the 05, the price difference is tiny.

The cost will vary year to year as different routine items come due for service. Failed
parts aside the most would be $1500 if brakes, ATF and diff fluid are needed. Brakes
will be a rape job at the dealer. Over a few years routine service would average out
to around $700 depending how much DIY is done and whether a dealer or a good MB indy
tech does the work.

That is all based all on driving habits and driving style. I have highway cars
go over 100,000 miles on factory brakes and have seen people need them
as soon as 25,000 miles. On average 40-45k miles for all around use.
