I need some advice..

What oil do you recommend for a 1993 W-124 with the 3.0 Litre motor?

I live in an all-season weather environment.

I have also heard that some people are using a diesel rated oil and this helps to keep the internal parts clean / pro-long engine life.

What are your thoughts??

My 65 year old mechanic who has been working on Benzes all his life only uses the 'diesel' oil you refer to - 15W/40. Your manual will you show you the ranges which are pretty liberal. 10W30 and 10W40 are all ok. The new school guys swear by synthetic, but not me.

I've been using Castrol 20W-50 during the warmer months and Delo 15W-40 during the colder months for years and years. No trouble yet.
But realistically, any quality engine oil in the 10W-40 range will work just fine. It's pretty much one of those personal preference things.
