I saw a video about Forever Black Bumper & Trim dye and thought
it worth a try. Had to order it via Ebay as its not widely distributed.

I will say I am impressed with the results. Its a dye, has no silicone.
Before you apply, you have to clean the surface with a cleaner to remove
any previously applied silicone like Armor All. Some reading about this
product suggested to use Goof Off in lieu of the supplied cleaner.
That is what I did on my 560SL - cleaned the bumpers, door handle,
and side trim with Goof Off.

Supplied is a foam brush that you "paint" this dye on. Directions stated to
squeeze some dye from the bottle onto the foam brush - I used a plastic lid
to hold a small dab of this dye and dipped the foam brush in it as
I was applying it. If you get any black dye on the body paint or chrome,
you need to quickly wipe it off with a damp rag.
This product was really easy to apply. The only area that would
be a problem is the side trim which has an embedded chrome piece and you
can't get the black dye between the rubber and the painted surface - see
my second photo. Now, if one knows how to remove the side trim or maybe
use painters tape that could be addressed too.

I was really impressed with the way it blacked out the dull gray door handle and side trim.
It is supposed to be long lasting, so I will have to see.

I've tried several other products including Armor All, Back to Biack, and some other
products but none of them performed as well as this Forever Black.

Below are before and after photos of the door handle along with a
photo of my rubber bumper after applying Forever Black:

Looks very good. Do you think it prevents or restore the alligator skin on the side moldings? Have tou seen the alligator skin side moldings I'm talking about? Some of the ones on my cars are shiny black, and others are not only faded, but also cracked and alligator skinned. Know what I mean?

Not sure what you mean -- do you have a photo?

Hi There:

I have used this product on my Infiniti lower rocker trim and as long as you clean and prep whatever you are recoloring with the supplied cleaner you will have decent results. I have not had to redo my Infiniti rockers and that was over 3 years ago.

I definitely plan on using this on my 380SL black side trim and bumper ends to bring them back to life. I am not sure what alligator texture trim the other posted is referring to, but hopefully someone on here can help him out.

Not quite for sure either what Mike was talking about but mine had what looked like a hard water "film" built up on it. A little wet/dry (used wet) fine grit sandpaper took care of it. Maybe that's what he is talking about...

I use Forever black and I love it. The parts really stay black. I would like to have tried it on the grill inserts but so far SEM is working really great there.

Carl, what did it look like when you applied to the grill?

Have not done the grill yet.
I'll have to give that a go too.

John, what is this SEM product you used on your grill?

Carl I did both my grill inserts and headlight doors about 3 years ago. Used a plastic primer and satin black on the inserts...same primer and gloss black on the doors...got both at Autozone. A couple of times since then I have had to take a q-tip and some satin black paint to touch up the inserts but nothing major. I like how the grill inserts sort of disappear...here's an older pic.
