My recaro Ideal's are being recovered and I should have them by this weekend. The pair I have are the manual models, I am going to install these in my 124 coupe. Searching the 124 posts I have not found any info on installation in a 124 so I'm posting here because a few 126 members have experience with this type of seat. My question is: can the manual recaros be mounted onto the power bases of the original seats? The PO of these seats pretty much disabled the up + down adjuster to mount the frames to some MB factory bottom rails. The MB bottom rails are the black rails that the power seat assembly rests on. I do have the front to back manual system still on the recaros. If I can mount these onto the powered factory bases then I will have a lot more flexiablitiy in adjusting the bottom or base of the seat. Any feedback on this would be appreciated. Sorry I did not take any photos of the bottom of the seats prior to taking them to the upholstery shop. Thanks, Mike

Short answer: yes, but you need the konsole / adapter that was designed to mount these to your car. I think it's the same as the w126 konsole.

Glad to here the w124 is moving forward! I think it is just the 116/126 sharing common brackets but haven't had first hand experience with it. Here is a link from years ago about the install with the console and also a snapshot of the recaro site's part numbers list for Mercedes:

You may need to click on the recaro list a couple of times to make it big enough to read

As the recaro's I have are completely manual i.e. no electrical wiring, I just need to mount the seats to the 124 seat bracket. Here are photos of the seats (pre re-upholstery) and the 124 seat bracket. This may be easier than I thought. Keep in mind the photos of the seats are as they were mounted in the donor car. My current controls should plug right in although I will only be able to adjust the front/back motion and up/down motion. There are manual adjusts for the seat backs. Thanks for the info. This is going to be really nice when completed. The car will be quite unique and very impressive. This car w124 coupe has been lowered (H&R, bilstien) euro lights, and will soon have the rear wing (thanks to BW member) painted and installed. I will expose the details on the complete Dyna Mat of the interior and trunk of the car along with one of the most outrageous custom Hi-Fi systems you could imagine after the seats are installed. I have 4 different sets of wheels that are rare and unique, just need to sort out the best for this car. 18" AMG mono blocks, 16" Aero 1's both chrome and powder coated (2 sets), 18" works wheels staggerd, or chrome 19" Lowenhart LDR staggered. The car will certainly look a lot faster than it is. Almost forgot, custom exhaust tips.
